rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

i've been saying there's no possible way dwrp has just 300-500 individuals in it for years. so glad this survey proved it. and, again, there could easily be hundreds more who didn't even take it. we're a lot bigger than people assume, which always surprises me.

yeah, i think even the 300anon that my ayrt is referring to said that they'd been out of the loop a very long time and that was like the very low end of their estimate or something like that. i don't think they or anyone really thought we were down to 300 just yet

i don't think we're even capped at 1500. probably not the 2500 i was hoping for, but maybe 1800-2200ish. like you said, there had to have been people who didn't take the survey, though at least two people on wg boasted about submitting to the survey multiple times to skew it so i guess people are just gonna take from it what they want. i personally think it's kind of silly to insist we're as big as we always were with tumblr now being a thing, but who knows

tumblr's its own brand of rp and i don't know if it's even fair to compare us. we're so.. different.

and tbh, f-list is like, the reigning king of roleplay. there are SO many people on that site. far more than tumblr and dwrp combined i'd guess.

yeah i mean 10ish years ago we were also still on/pretty close to lj, where fandom had a pretty huge hub until tumblr and other sites happened, so it's only natural we'd have been larger back then

anyway sure, we're not as big as we were and it'd be silly to insist that. we're also not nearly as tiny as we could be, tho, and personally i'm just fine with that too

but whether or not we're really shrinking as rapidly as other people claim will depend on whether we run more surveys in the next couple of years or smth imo. that would be the only way to really tell at this point, and until then i'm not going to put too much energy into assuming one way or the other
