This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

I personally have a list of credits for every piece of fanart I use for icons in case someone asks about them, but I don't post them on the actual icon page just because I don't think anyone actually bothers looking there. but given this thread, who knows.

Pretty sure everyone agrees on the fact that fanart users who refuse to credit are jerks. And nobody can tell if you're refusing to credit or just not putting it up "because you don't think anyone checks". They do. I do. Put the credit where it belongs.

nah. the artists names are in my credit listing and I'm not rehosting their images. my icons don't steal from their page views or revenue in any meaningful way. people look at icons for expressions to inform their tags, not to browse fanart.

as long as they have credit for it somewhere on their journal, it doesn't really matter. we usually put it on the icon page, yes, but there's no reason why they can't do it their own way, as long as it's actually credited for. don't be so fucking afraid of change, anon. or having to actually do more than click on the icon page. why give so much of a shit how someone else does something?

nope. otherwise i would have said op or ayrt or w/e. don't do this bullshit same anon accusation because someone outside the conversation disagrees with you. i get it. we're all drones and sheep and we all like to do things the same way. we get real uppity whenever games do things differently or someone does something that doesn't fit in with the norm. get over it. it's a hobby. they're at least bothering to credit somewhere. i know a few people that have credit pages for things like layouts/profile codes/anything else that someone else has done that they didn't. this is not a singular event.

it's easier and puts the credit all in one place for anyone that's curious.

furthermore, like another anon said, icons aren't the same as rehosting images or even banners or headers. players don't look at icons in order to find new fanart. not having the credit right there on the icon page makes zero difference.

i look at fanart icons for artists all the time tho especially if it's high quality and i play the same character??

no one cares about it not being on the icon page but you insinuated you weren't crediting at all bc you said "if someone asks for it ill tell them"

good for you? icons aren't put up or organized for your perusal. they're for the player to use at their discretion. they don't do so in a way that benefits other players of the character.

good for you? people don't make their journals/icon pages for you or others. i hear a lot of complaining about layouts and visualosities and icon keywords. it's not your journal. you don't have to look at it. if they want to set it up how they prefer, that's their prerogative. you don't have to click through anything.

is "good for you?" the only comeback you know? lmao, all i did was point out that you can put the icon page on flatview and see all the icons on one page. in reply to a comment that was saying they put their credit in a journal entry because they want to keep it all on one page.

also i would happy the "i" in "i'd" would imply a personal opinion and not imply that i expect everyone to comply to my needs and wants.

gee, i dunno. i didn't realize that i could only use something once. are we keeping score here?

as in 'credit for everything they wanted to credit for'. people have credit for more than just their icons. maybe they put not only the artist, but whoever did their icons. maybe they can't fit that all in one. maybe they have a pretty spread sheet that has links and is helpful to people that look for it. or maybe you need to just stop giving so many fucks over something that has nothing to do with you.

whether the implication was an opinion or expectation, your opinion and expectation doesn't mean squat in terms of how other people do things. you can expect it or prefer it, but in the end, they're going to do what they prefer to do, since it's their journal, not yours.
