If anything it's a great opportunity for him. Khura'in has very few defense attorneys so he'll get lots of cases and get to do what he would rather do.
Honestly, I think it's far worse what was done to him most of the time in DD. He got the least amount of screentime and in the DLC case he was relegated to errand boy. The only good thing he got was some backstory and a connection to cases 4 and 5, but Athena and Simon very much overshadowed him and made it very easy to forget that hey, Apollo's best friend was the victim damn it.
I'd rather see Phoenix stay in Khura'in and give Apollo and Athena a chance to stand on their own because Phoenix really needs to step back and be a mentor to them both and let them actually get to shine and show their stuff.
