Along with what everyone else said, 'pre-approved' doesn't actually mean you've been approved to get the card. When I was trying to get my first credit card, I applied for a 'pre-approved' card and got rejected. Applying for anything (loans, credit cards, etc) and getting rejected hurts your credit.

So yeah shred it.
