depends on how steadfast it is. like is it definitely mentioned repeatedly it's anemia? if not, go for a misdiagnosis. if they're "supposed to be" good at a language, could you assume that they aren't REALLY and they're just playing up their fluency? some expressions aren't easy to get in other languages, too, but in places like japan in particular english and french are used in strange ways and i've met people who were fluent who phrased things oddly in both languages.
i guess i'd prefer to stick to canon, but it depends on leg room. i'd also consult with castmates how they feel, that might actually help me on my decision? if i'm solo i'd probably definitely stick to canon, though, because it could be a turn-off for prospective castmates!
