we get told a shitload of times that non-whites can't look up to white characters and need role models their own race

but then why is it okay to take a white role model away from little white girls? are white kids somehow magically more inclined to disregard race, or are the spouters of the above rhetoric just full of shit and they're only after racebending certain white characters because they're desperate to piggy-back on the existing white character's popularity

what's going to happen if they keep pushing this abuse of the paintbucket tool, instead of taking the time to actually be creative and nuanced? anyone light-skinned gets to lose their heroes, their role models, the people they looked up to

there are certainly awesome non-white young girl detectives out there that are popular with non-white children, this director should make an effort to use and promote one of them instead. promote black literature, promote black culture, not just brownface a white girl and call it a day
