Re: da

well, here's the thing: the player involved CLAIMS that they did attempt to contact the mods, but the mods never received any such message.

I'm 99.99% sure the player is bullshitting, because it would be stupidly easy to get swept by AC and then lie about how you toooootally tried to contact the mods, they just didn't get it!! nobody can prove otherwise (though it goes both ways in that you also can't prove the message was ever sent in the first place).

even if it is true that the player tried to alert the mods, this mess is still their own fault for not chasing up the message when they received no response. if they were concerned that their message hadn't been seen, they could also have asked some of their gamemates to keep an eye on the AC warning list, just in case their journal ended up on there. then their friends could have vouched for them like "yo, player is actually away right now but they intended to hiatus/take a strike/whatever".

assuming their "message" actually existed, then it's unfortunate things wound up this way, but the player should have taken more care ensuring it was followed through on. the mods can't do anything about something they never received, and were acting perfectly within the rules in striking the player from the game.
