A completely blank timeline might seem a little weird.

I'd suggest at least an intro plurk to introduce yourself and say who you're playing, and it couldn't hurt to do occasional plurks linking your top levels in events and stuff, or plot plurks (private plurks with specific people for plotting also works). No one will bat an eye if you only use your plurk for RP, that's what most people do.
