How do you handle someone who has to be right about everything and always "corrects" you, assuming you still want to maintain a friendship with them?

For instance I'll be talking on plurk about a scene from canon and how it relates to something I want to RP, and they'll "correct" me on something minor about the scene that may not even be entirely relevant to the discussion. I don't think they intend to behave so condescendingly but that's exactly how it feels, like they're trying to show how much more knowledgeable than me they are or embarrass me in front of others. If I thought they were doing this maliciously I just wouldn't talk to them anymore, but it really seems to be a case of not understanding social cues.
