If those people are interested in using their faction as a viable third option, I think that'd be fine to be some kind of contender. But it would all depend on what the third option ended up looking like. If it's a court, then I don't think the Red Hand would fit. It's a guerrilla band of mercenaries, spies, and thieves who work where they want to in order to provide a check and balance system. They could beef up their numbers and become something of a militarized inquisition that offers a fourth side that just keeps everyone from going overboard or ruining shit.

Now, if the third option didn't look like a court but, instead, a faction or simply a group, then I don't see why the Red Hand wouldn't be an option.

As for Saralegui, he's lord of Redgate, yeah? I'm sure he could have a hand in it but I haven't seen the character around exerting as much influence. Might be an IC thing, might not. But I'm just one person and these are all ideas. I wouldn't want my opinion to dictate the game. I just feel like the next six months are going to be a high time to see who's interested in helping to open up more options and who could ICly be in a good position for them.

And to the anon above you: I understand that newer barons or marquis haven't had the time to settle themselves and it makes sense that they shouldn't necessarily be barred from the opportunity. But from an IC standpoint, they made their choice and threw their lot in with their court; if a third option came about, I don't think that they could be trusted not to still have their court's wishes in mind when ruling and shouldn't be the first choices that come up.

I couldn't really see my character being all that concerned that anyone with power on the other side threw in their lot, at least. Like above anon they'd probably just assume they wanted power, or that the two options presented were the only ones they thought were possible at the time. There are only a tiny handful of characters that are die-hard passionate about their court, the rest seem to be picking what they see as the lesser of two evils or are more neutral but don't want to sit there doing nothing.

Honestly, before this thread I never even considered that characters would be concerned about others harboring secret loyalties to their courts. They're all kind of stuck there and can't go home so most of them are just doing what they can. I've seen more characters super passionate about the Shuck and the Hart than the actual courts. And again, there are characters way more court-loyal who have done way more, so using only those two titles as criteria seems a bit odd.

i'd only thought of a third court similar to the existing two up until now, but a militarized inquisition kinda thing actually sounds like it could be really cool if executed right. i'mnit familiar enough with any of that group's leaders to know what they'd be more likely to do, but it's an interesting idea.

as far as saraleguu goes, he's been a bit quieter recently but he was really involved in the metaplot a few months ago, and i'm pretty sure he had something to do with the IC explanation for why the monarchs had disappeared over the timeskip.

I can confirm that he did had something to do with the monarchs disappearing over the timeskip. Back in October 2014/2700 game time, he ended up going into the dwarven mountain and securing use of the Doorway to Beyond (forgive me for mucking the name up, I just woke up), along with Tzilan who was fixing to get his hands on it.

Original anon here. I feel like the Red Hand could potentially operate like that as they are already working on a third option of a sorts, but I think the idea of multiple factions being used to clean up the world and make it better, especially since things might change drastically, would be a really interesting idea.

And thank you for the information about Saralegui. I'm new so I don't know all of what he's done. I've tried to catch up with all that's happened but there's just so much to go through.
