¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Ayano Tateyama | Kagerou Project

I think I understand her personality pretty well, so my biggest concern is with how to handle playing from Kagepro in general! I'm not fluent in Japanese, so most of my knowledge comes from the fan translations of the novels (which aren't complete, as far as I know?) and the manga. Would it be a faux pas to play her from the manga? I don't know anybody who plays from it and I never see Kagepro players around, so I'm not really sure what most people do. :(

hey hey old as butts kagepro player here!! for kagepro there's a lot of material to dig through so i don't blame you for wanting to stick to the manga. my answer is to choose which media you're most comfortable with and go with it! each one is supposed to be its own timeline, anyway.

for example, i played kano here from the manga only. all i took from the novels was the necessary background info and that was good enough! you can probably do the same for ayano. keeping her manga only will be fine, as long as you've got her personality down & an idea of what her backstory is imo. the series is super complicated about its timelines, so you'd have to do a lot of picking & choosing anyway.

Seconding the Kano player! My friend and I have both played Ayano in our time, she played from the novels and I abused the timeline loophole to play from a kind of amalgamation of novel/manga/songs/anime going by pure 'what makes the most sense', since different canons give a lot of conflicting information on what Ayano knows and does. The important thing is to find a consistent narrative you can use. It's definitely possible to play from this canon, confusing as it is, and the manga is as legitimate a choice as any. Really, it's the medium that best and most consistently explains what's happening. Use the novels for backstory, there's translations for Ayano's important stuff in Deceiving, and the manga gives you the rest.

Besides, Ayano is so vague and secretive about the kagepro mystery that you might never have to go into it.

PS if you need icons I made a bunch for Ayano at the bottom here
