rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

If someone were to create a DR for OCs only, what would you like to see in it? A set nexus setting players could come and go on their own? Ability to visit each other's worlds?

I like the idea of it being where if you world hop you are automatically AU'ed to fit into the setting of that world (a normal human jumps to a world filled with magic and they gain magical abilities like everyone else, etc), even if you keep the memories of your own world.

Someone also mentioned a stickied post for OC discussion and advice at the top of the page. I like that, too, so we don't lose the post onto another page.

You're right, having it be optional would make more sense.

Honestly, not to be a downer but you're not the first person to ask this question nor to try to set this up and it never really works.

For people looking for some way to test drive OCs, I'd suggest one of the 'informal games' popping up, like Jumpscares or Eudio where the apps are kind of just a formality and the AC is low to nonexistent.

Again, not to rain on your parade, but there has to be at least four or five of these that have been started and then just fizzled out.

Your best bet isn't to make the DR and hope people come. Your best bet is to start it with you and a few friends (with no wank baggage) and advertise it as open to others. Build momentum from a core, and be welcoming to people who show interest.

the only thing i would add is, assuming you do want more than just your friends there, find a way to make it REALLY welcoming to new people/outsiders, otherwise they could see it as a clique of friends that will be hard to break into and have fun with. like idk some mechanic to make integration extra easy, or something. could be hard to pull off in a DR, but i think it'd be worth it if you want that fresh blood.

The usual problem is inertia; no one wants to be the first to comment. If things are already going, it won't have that dead comm funk. As long as the starting players are very open to trying different things, it should work out for most people.

I like the idea of building a DR with a few friends and opening it up once you've got a few threads started!

One venue I was trying before I joined games was to make a 'meme city' setting. It was otherwise a fairly normal mishmash city where characters could show up much like other panfandom games. Events the likes of which we trawled from bakerstreet would randomly affect certain parts of the city, I suppose sort of like Reboot games descending from the sky.

Something like this might be fun, but you could also use the same premise to draw down character plots or parts of their worlds!

I don't have many pictures of this guy yet, just the one icon and http://i.imgur.com/ADhM2YJ.jpg the drawing it came from. He's an extremely good-natured fella and most of his expressions run the gammut of diplomatic. He doesn't usually get angry, he just gets sympathetic.

If anyone wants to take a shot I would be thrilled!

would anyone be available to take a look at an oc app of mine and "beta" it? i managed to get their history section down to a little less than 1k words because as a former app mod i know no one's going to want to read a novel or anything, so i just want to see if what i wrote as a bare bones history is ok.
