rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

do you ever just roll your eyes when you get in a fight with someone and they keep going on about how well they know you and how they know what you're thinking/doing, because when they do that, you realize how little they actually know about you?

we're close in some aspects but when it comes down to it, we're mainly rp friends. they don't know my other hobbies, my guilty pleasure fandoms, what i like to do in my free time, who my other friends are, or a load of personal things about me that i never felt was necessary to share. it's not because i wanted to be mean or purposely secretive, i just don't talk about myself much.

i'm surprised by it too though. do you think your close/long-term online friends know the "real" you? if they had to write about your life, your likes, your dislikes, your habits, your emotions, do you think they'd get it pretty accurate?

no because i don't get into fights with my rp friends, the only people i ever fight with are my actual friends because, you know... we have actual things to argue about

if someone's giving me shit over rp i just take them off my plurk lmao

maybe try seeing it from their perspective. maybe they don't know you that well, but they think they do for some reason and if they're on your plurk it's probably really easy to think they're part of your life. if they don't know you that well you should probably tell them you keep your rp friends and close irl friends separate. if you really don't want your friendship to be 'more' and closer then you definitely should nip it in the bud while you can.

i don't have a lot of close friends and i keep my rp exclusive friend pool really shallow but i talk about what i like, what i don't and more rarely my fears or goals. i think my 'close' friends would be able to write well about me but i don't think i'd mind the people i barely know writing about me. if anything they'd probably say nicer things lol!

my mom has done this all my life and it's probably the primary reason i never developed any respect for her

I've had a few former friends who tried to second-guess my motivations or drive wedges between me and close friends, assuming I'd automatically side with them

it was hilarious in a really sad kind of way
