Re: WORLD-BUILDING GAME BASED OFF OF MAKAI KINGDOM

i'm really interested in this but all the games like this tend to be modded by neckbeards, have really low standards and attract e-cats and notoriously bad rpers, and the shittiest layouts/coding

if you go through with it i'm interested but i'd probably wait to app

people have tried this before, more than once, and it's pretty much gone down exactly as anon described with neckbeards overrunning everything and the game itself becoming a XDDDD LOL SO FUNNEH!!!!11 shitfest of badly played characters and awkward muns

implement actual app standards, stick to them, and get a competent group of mods together if you wish to avoid the same fate

i just want even mediocre quality dungeons and exploring and world-building while fighting monsters. i don't know why there's absolutely none of this in dwrp right now! so sick of space/sci fi games and bland horror!

it's a nice pipe dream, anon, and i get the game stagnation effect, but a game like that easily requires more effort to run and maintain than other genres. if you don't get a competent bunch of people together it's going to flop and that's a pretty tall order considering how shallow the mod pool tends to be these days for obvious reasons.

cdc succeeds not because it's super great and original, but because of the people behind it. that's the making or breaking of any game, and that's why disgaeaish games don't do well: the crowd they attract can't run them worth shit.

First off, I'd like to thank you all for the suggestions thus far! They're definitely appreciated.

I can totally see why a game like this would be a tall order, as theirs numerous things to keep in check. Even if players set up the Netherworld, there'd have to be limits on how strong characters and their classes could get during a certain period of time, among other things, and said things would have to be enforced. Still, I think it has the potential for being fun. I myself would probably just stick to modding it over apping, with the exception of playing an NPC or two. Though like I said when this first came up, I wouldn't want the NPCs to get too involved. Otherwise it would limit the options of characters' plans as well as might tempt people to spend a majority of their time trying to get CR with them.

But anyway, I'm admittedly curious as to how to recruit mods. Is there any place where you can hold some kind of advertisement for modding help? Also, what questions should I ask in regards to the interviews and what not, aside from the obvious ones about "experience" and "why they think they'd be a good mod"?
