Tips for people new to DWRP?

A couple of my friends expressed interest in joining a game I'm setting up but they've never RPed on dreamwidth before. They've been RPing on other sites for years -- it's just that they're pretty new to the format of journal RP.

Any tips for getting used to it, and for dealing with the culture of DWRP as a whole?
