in general, though, I wish it was as clear-cut as you're arguing it is, but I sincerely think it isn't. what I mean is, the IC/OOC line is much easier to separate on murder than it is on things like ableism, transphobia, racism and misogyny, because the gap between real life behaviour and fiction is, as a rule, much wider on the former issue than on the latter ones. prejudice is on a fundamental level expressed through the use of language, and since we are engaged in a hobby that consists entirely of the use of language, I feel personally responsible about being careful about how and where I use words.
