just to be pedantic, but north america didn't steal and bastardize it.

there are no knights in america and so nobody addresses any americans with the title Sir (capitalized). but "sir" is a variant of "sire", a respectful term of address for a man. throughout history it's been applied to lords and gentlemen and priests and customers, not knights exclusively.

from what i know, and i could be wrong, sire was only used as a term of respect to lords and males of some standing, not just anyone that had a dick. that or to claim patriarchal parentage, even going back a few generations. it's sort of strictly for a lord or the monarchy now, but pretty sure it was used the same as 'lord' was; to people of station. i can't say i've ever heard of a priest being called sire, but like i said, i could be wrong.

Late 30s-40ish, male, currently resides in Scotland. He will possibly run across some supernatural (i.e., occult not the show) stuff, but he's otherwise normal. He's snarky, spent his early adulthood in the military, decided he hated taking orders and so became a PI rather than join the police.

Any help would be appreciated. Punnish names are a plus.

it's good overall and better than the first season imo although it only really gets good towards the end (after wan's backstory happens)
it still suffers from a lot of the same problems that it had the first season (pushing asami out of the picture, reducing bolin to being plucky purposeless comic relief (this gets a bit better towards the very very end but it involves wading through a whole lotta bullshit)), but gets over some of the others (korra gets mad character development), and some of the other characters (tenzin, kya, bumi, and ikki in particular) get a lot more spotlight
like the other anons said the episodes with wan's backstory are really good and definitely 100% worth watching even if you don't want to watch the rest of the season
personally i'm really invested in the stories A:TLA and LOK take place in so i enjoyed the second season a lot!

i prefer ambitious failures over safe bets anyway, but there's a difference between revisiting themes and reusing identical setpieces

This game is full of great players. Off the top of my head, I've been tracking Hannibal Lector, Sharon Carter, Booker DeWitt, Eridan, Spock, and Superboy lately. Movie Thor is a joy. Captain Amelia is promising.

The mods deserve a shout out for the Emperor's murder. I'm still on the edge of my seat.

i also didn't mean it as in they actually stole the word, but there's a lot of words that started to get misused over here after america became self sufficient and cut itself off from the crown. whether it was a conscious effort or not i can't say, but take words like mistress, which actually was used as an honorific aside from goodwife or goody and is now solely meant as 'the other woman' (unless you're in the s&m community). the root of the words we use now have been skewed, which happens when languages and cultures evolve. there are still a lot of words that have their original meaning in the uk that are things americans will take as an insult.
