Not at all, really. Half of the plot of the series is that Mikado is normal but doesn't want to be, while everyone around him is extraordinary and just wants to be normal. His dear-mun post consisted of not wanting to go somewhere because it wasn't normal, where he'd actually be pretty excited about it. They have his motivations backwards, but sound fine.

iirc later in the novels mikado starts realizing that what he actually wants is a normal life with anri and kida instead of what he does end up managing to gain (immense gang leader power, etc) when he still wants to experience the "unusual". i'm pretty sure hh's mikado has him post book 6, after the switch, so that thought process does make sense in context.

though it's been a while since i've read the novels. the details are a bit fuzzy.

If he's post book 6, then it should be even worse IMO. That's when his "black feelings" are really starting to come out and he's slipping down the slope of being absolutely insane. He breaks down and cries near the end of it because he's told the city is too fast for him and he can't keep up.

In the game, he's trying to gather power and information and saying he's bored.

Nah, she's just ooc with most of her characters. Nothing to do with her as a person.

i don't have much to say about the mikado because i don't feel like i read enough of him but from that canon point he's p much becoming cray, which does kinda make it worse. also if mikado was lying in the dm post, it still makes his motivation is super backwards considering hh is hella more normal than what's happened to him in the novels. he doesn't have time for that shit, he needs to fix things that he fucked up because dollars was getting out of control. my memory on this is fuzzy as well though and i don't play mikado so i can be wrong but if none of this is taken into account them yeah, there's probably a problem.

Wasn't that DM post from before he joined HH? Isn't it possible he picked a different canon point to go with once he apped in?

if that's true, then yes, it could have easily been experimenting with canon points.
