I didn't have any deep friendships until I was in college, and I still really only have two close friends. Neither of them live anywhere near me, and my job involves a lot of long-distance, short-notice travel so it's hard to have much of an IRL social life. I am very much an introvert, though. I know online friendships can be hit or miss, but I met both of my BFFs through online fandom several years ago. I actually don't miss IRL friendships at all...
