My one friend was convinced that an English teacher had taught her that you never put a comma after the final "and" in a list. Very frustrating because she got all defensive about it and was mad at me for pointing it out when the only reason I discovered this was because I was proofing an application to a uni program for her. Sorry dude, but I'm the one that actively enjoys writing and makes it a point to know these things. She pulled out her Eng 100 grammar book and lo and behold I was right.
