basically you can choose where you invest your money, whether it's in stocks or bonds -- you can do like a percentage split so mine is 90% stocks and 10% bonds (and they'll give you recommendations based on your age group.) there is some risk involved, of course, and although i've experienced some pretty big drops along the way because the international market is a little shaky, it's a steady upward climb
