Aang and Harry Potter

I actually have a question about this one. I play a genderswapped character from time to time who was originally a guy but magically changed into a woman. The way I set it up, he originally continued to think of himself as 'he' all the time, but after so long of having everyone including the people closest to him calling him 'her' all the time, he's started to think of himself as 'her' too.

Does that make sense or am I totally off base on that?

Because it's taken as an axiom that everyone desires sex, so if you haven't had any, it must be due to a failing. It's also considered an essential life experience for an adult to have had, so there's an element of "virgin? you're not a real grown-up!" to it as well.

In short, half cultural expectations, half judgment based on those expectations.

Once I force myself to watch shit hill and get my life in order, if ever.

it'd make sense if the character was very young, just forming their gender identity, they're probably pretty set in their view of themselves. like, okay, if i'm a woman but suddenly find myself in the body of a male, i'm not going to start identifying as a male, no matter how many of my friends and my family call me a "he." if that was the case, no trans people would exist, because lbr, most people who've known you as your birth sex will continue to call you that. it's shitty, but that's how it goes.

that reminds me

what i don't get about magical "sexswap" characters is...to me, it seems like most characters, if they knew this was a permanent state and assuming they come from a canon set in modern/futuristic times, would try to transition back to their assigned gender. not through medical means, necessarily, but i'd see really girly characters becoming femme guys or mtfs or a super macho character like Dean Winchester or something binding their chest and cutting off their hair.

it's super ooc imo for a cis character to ever "accept" it, or if they do, go to conforming to that gender's expectations.

Though I've noticed that if you have had sex, you get judged for that, too. Like "You're just throwing yourself around" or "Jeez, take your time with it."

Though I notice that reaction more toward women than men.

had issues when i was a kid and underwent speech therapy. they all got worked out except for one; whenever there's a weird h dipthong at the beginning of words--like 'herb' and 'human'--i naturally won't say the h sound. i have to really focus on saying it right.

my petpeeve about genderswaps or whatever is when someone has an AU character that is the opposite sex of the official character and they assume that their sex makes their entire personality change.

Example, I'm pretty sure that Tina Stark wouldn't start stuttering and being super submissive every time someone looked at her.

It bothers the hell out of me when people just destroy characterization in order to basically play out sex. Yes, hormones may alter the character slightly, but not their entire likes and dislikes and personality.

...all i'm getting from this is that i now want to play dean in a f/f or genderswap game and play him as a trans guy.

I know recently someone I chatted to made a female version of a villain and said "She's not going to be super evil and stuff because she's a woman now and that's not very feminine."

female tony starks are just...bad. apparently, women aren't allowed to be playboy philanthropists who seduce pepper pots. they're only allowed to get weak at the knees over steve rogerses.

So my entire harddrive just decided to commit seppeku yesterday and fortunately I had a friend replace it and get my computer back up and running for free. Buuuut, I have none of the fine and dandy links for the things to change dreamwidth to look... not like dreamwidth. On Chrome and Firefox.

Does anyone have links to all that useful information? I know there's someone who has a huge list of useful links like that, but I don't have the time to exactly dig through anon comm for it while I try to put the rest of my computer back together.
