FACT: Alternate realities exist. All of them were born into existence at the same time, in the same way, containing the same things, and just like any other space that people were born into, they can only make the best of what they have.

And the inhabitants of reality 5561A have really screwed theirs up.

After discovering interdimensional travel, they immediately managed to pick a fight with the next universe over. A few hundred years later, and The Great War was over, leaving reality 5561A decimated, with only stragglers surviving on every planet in the reality. They packed up their portals and were left with only one remaining natural portal they couldn't close - their only real option to recover from the war and repopulate their dying reality.

Thus was founded Riverview Quarantine, a vast city nestled in a valley on a small moon orbiting the Capital World in reality 5561A. With the portal still active, anyone from any reality who feels, even for a fleeting moment, like they don't belong where they are can be pulled through to their new reality, where they can find a new home in a new community on any number of planets...after a pleasant 5-year stay in the Quarantine, to make sure they're not a danger to themselves or others.

Riverview is a relaxed choose-your-own-pace panfandom city game, with options for involvement in an easygoing plot that includes elements of exploration, fighting, and moderate worldbuilding. Set in Riverview Quarantine, a beautiful modern city in the middle of a lush forest in an alternate reality, characters are drawn into the city by a device that senses their displacement to a society that wants them to feel at home. The government is genuinely interested in the characters' well-being. Characters are not trapped forever, and if they were brought by mistake, they may go home after a certain amount of community service to compensate for the difficulty in sending them home.

Today is just another day, or maybe it's even your lucky day. Maybe you wake up in time to hear your favorite song on the radio. Maybe you find a five-dollar bill on the sidewalk during your morning commute. No matter what everyone you pass greets you with a smiling face. The city is at peace, but you can’t shake the feeling that something doesn't feel quite right. It's almost as though something isn’t exactly as you remember...but that's silly, isn't it? Everything else is still the same. You're surrounded by the same buildings and people you've always known. All of the comforts of home are right at your fingertips. Are you feeling all right? Maybe you should take it easy today. Rest assured, there’s really nothing to worry about at all…

Recollé is a pan-fandom mem-loss and regain game taking place in a modern setting. On an Earth similar to the one we know, characters live out their daily lives as they believe they always have. However, it soon becomes clear that this world isn't as familiar as they think it is. With an ever-changing environment and an even deeper mystery to solve, characters must work to not only regain memories of their former selves but to help decide the fate of this and many other worlds lost.

[personal profile] loveskulls 2017-04-20 05:46 am (UTC)(link)

This game is an erotic parody of fairy tales, myth, legends and history set in a far away, fantasy Kingdom ruled by a tyrant enchantress known as The Mistress. You can expect a lot of raunchy elements with minimal seriousness involved.

Your character has been summoned through universes to entertain The Mistress and bring new life and entertainment to her Kingdom. Your character can choose the life of an Apprentice (to learn magic from The Mistress), Guard (to guard The Mistress and her Kingdom) or an Outlier (to be useless and free) and earn coins through sexy quests each month. Coins provide the chance to earn old or new powers, buy some cool shit and party.

Every month a new and sexy occurrence will bring people closer together in every sense.

THE YEAR - Bonus Round Reserves Open, Applications open on the 7th!

[personal profile] thosebelow 2017-04-20 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
The Year is a panfandom horror RPG, with concepts based on Cabin In The Woods.

There is a small island in the middle of a vast lake, surrounded by an invisible and impenetrable barrier. Deep under the island, there is a group of people called the Technicians - who have the ability to make the darkest ideas and horrors come to life. And deeper still lie the Gods of this world, their horrific appetites only sated with blood and suffering, their awakened presence corrupting the very fabric of the world itself.

To keep them content, you have found yourself unwillingly dragged into a nightmare you can't wake up from - one where you must suffer and die over and over again. The only glimpse of light in it all is the promise scrawled on the strange pamphlet that was on your person when you woke up:

"Sacrifice for one year, and we will let you go back home."

...This we offer in humility and fear, for the end to never come again. As Your will demands...

AHALPUH -- apps always open!

[personal profile] modsters 2017-04-21 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
A monster horror game.

Ahalpuh is an isolated civilization situated within a massive crater. The crater is all the Ahalpuns have known, and will ever know. With towering, rocky walls and a vast land sequestered within that provides its people with everything they need, Ahalpuh is a self-sustaining land.

While Ahalpuh has evolved significantly thanks to its advancements in technology and medicine, there is something otherworldly about the place.

Ahalpuh is a panfandom roleplay where characters are transformed into monstrous beings who hunt, kill, and consume the best kind of prey: humans. With a focus on characters' transformations and their attempts to grapple with their newfound hunger and hunting instincts, as well as their descent into the seedy underbelly of Ahalpuh.

Just don't forget: in this land, you are still the greatest horror of all. You may be the villain or the victim of this story, but that's up to you. Our focus is on the truly monstrous side of being a monster, and of the psychological strain of losing sight of what it means to be human.

In world where not everything is as it seems, and underlying elements of cosmic and psychological horror, the world of Ahalpuh will grow and change through the game's monthly events with varying levels of connection to the metaplot.

Our goal at Ahalpuh is to allow as much player choice as possible both in who they can app and how they can design their monsters. We allow a broad range of characters, no forced humanization, a single free monster choice for every player, and our AC only requires 2 current threads with at least 3 comments from you per thread. We also have a hiatus and strike system.

This is not a test. This is your emergency broadcast system announcing the commencement of the Annual Purge sanctioned by the U.S. Government. Weapons of class 4 and lower have been authorized for use during the Purge. All other weapons are restricted. Government officials of ranking 10 have been granted immunity from the Purge and shall not be harmed. Commencing at the siren, any and all crime, including murder, will be legal for 12 continuous hours. Police, fire, and emergency medical services will be unavailable until tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. Blessed be our New Founding Fathers and America, a nation reborn. May God be with you all.
Crime in the United States has risen abruptly following the most recent purge. The Founding Fathers have assessed our Annual Purge laws and adjusted them to allow for this unwanted change. In a three month cycle, all citizens will celebrate a time of peace, preparation, and purge. All previous Purge Night guidelines still apply. This will continue until the Nation is no longer in an economic collapse and rising social unrest has been quelled. Blessed Be the Founding Fathers. Blessed Be the Addend.
Reserves are currently open.

Applications open May 1st.

so, i've been looking for a game and i like the idea of a game set around the purge but... looking at your information, i'm not really sure what there is for characters to even do? are there events? things to interact with? all the information pages seem really, really bare and i'm not sure what the point is beyond characters killing each other once in a while.

[personal profile] foundingfathers 2017-04-25 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Hello! The events are going to run on a three month cycle. The first month is 'peace', where the monthly events will focus on gaining cr and forcing those awkward interactions between characters from different groups. The second is 'preparation', where the events allow characters to build, gather, and work against or with each other to get ready for the purge. The last month will be the purge month (which is also a no application month).

The plots will focus on the strain between classes, etc. that came up a lot in the films, as well as issues that developed strictly based on being allowed to do whatever you want for twelve hours - murder and so on. It will be a lot of killing in that third month, but the events will definitely get into the dynamics surrounding the Purge. There are also opportunities for characters to have lives, businesses, start a rebel group, or pro-purge church organization.

Great question and we'll add this to the FAQ, thank you!

(Anonymous) 2017-04-25 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
that makes a lot of sense, thank you!!

and another follow up question then, is there a mechanic in place for characters to be invested in the choice aside from "die or don't die"/"kill or be killed"? i read they arrive in the warehouse and have to choose but what if they choose something just to leave, is there anything to enforce the choice?

[personal profile] foundingfathers 2017-04-25 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
During their welcome speech the Founding Fathers explain that those who go pro-purge will be sent home, if they choose, after they've survived three purges. It's a big incentive but only offered to that side. Anyone who is anti-purge won't be allowed to go home, no matter how many times they make it through. It's part of the incentive the NFFA give to get people to purge. There's also the option to deflect later, if a character decides that they want to purge after all.

We also have it so that characters can play moles, if they're careful, but the player would have to plot that out. A big issues with the Addend is that they don't know if it's going to work or not, which will play a part. A final note is that the city has checkpoints so characters can't just skip town.

curious question! what quantifies "pro-purge"? because i feel like some characters would try and get away with lip-service and just fending off their fellow man until they go home.

is it "commit crimes during the purge" or "if you don't attempt to murder someone during a purge, it doesn't count"?

because i'd be pretty interested if this was some kind of fucked up pseudo-anti-murdergame where you have to try and kill at least 3 people to go home. maybe (so that it's harder for characters to achieve IC) require them to be consecutive? :0

it'd also super emphasize the class dynamics where someone is incentivized to find SOMEONE they want to purge and where people who can only defend themselves like children would never be able to leave under their own power...
foundingfathers: (Default)

[personal profile] foundingfathers 2017-04-26 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Pro-purge is anyone that will be actively participating. The NFFA has eyes everywhere and will be monitoring the majority of the city, focusing on those who agreeed to purge. There will be consequences for any character who chose the pro side and then didn't purge; we aren't rolling those out yet until it happens. ( in the films rule breakers were hung but we haven't decided on that yet).

Crime is legal then but it's not the founding father's focus. So it would end up being kill at least three people to go home. More if the character wants. They believe purging is expelling sins and inner anger through true release, murder. It's meant to cleanse the soul and spirit which makes them better people. Fucked up, right?

Players can find other players to arrange the purging or it can be through npcs as long as the player has their character react or change organically after having purged. We want to really get into the class dynamics and racial implications that the purge movies brought up. Characters can pay others to let them purge them if they have the money or find people in their homes or on the street. Players can also create the little killing rings etc. Obviously those who chose the pro side will have the ability to get donors to purge with where anti would not. We love these questions and will update the FAQ for added clarification.

how many reserves / apps do you allow per player per month?

[personal profile] foundingfathers 2017-04-26 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
We've set the maximum at three in the game per player but we're flexible. If a player is really active and wants to bring in more, they only have to send us a message!

X-Project - An X-Men Movieverse/MCU RPG now on DW

[personal profile] x_advertising 2017-05-02 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)

That's right! After almost fourteen years on LiveJournal, X-Project has decided its time to move. This isn't a choice that comes easy; however, following LiveJournal's latest update to its Terms of Services, the players of this fine game have decided they're no longer comfortable staying with LJ. But never fear! We've already found a new home on Dreamwidth, and will be resuming our gameplay there. Same great game, new great platform. We have resumed the gameplay over on our new Dreamwidth comms. Hope to see you there!

Neither is needed for gameplay - the YouTube channel is used for vids that a couple of players make. The twitter account is used for advertising/OOC communication/sharing of comics and movie relevant articles and images, and there's silly offshoot IC twitter chat that's not considered game canon but which amuses some of the players.
