Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Just a status update that we're moving forward with it! The info files have all been drafted up, so now we're just doing some editing for clarity and coding everything to look pretty. We expect all the right pieces to be in place by next Sunday, at which point we'll put up a test drive and open up reserves and applications. Official game start is estimated for August 1st, but we'll open sooner if at least ten players toss in their apps. Thanks for the feedback and support, it helped a lot!

i'm not one of the anons who contributed to the last thread but I've been stalking it like no tomorrow!!! i'm very excited to hear this and i wish you guys the best of luck.

Could I suggest turning off the custom comment pages, though? It's really dark and hard to read at least IMO.

I love the idea of the game, but there's one little nitpick I have. Is there any way you can change the layout? It's too dark. I also don't like how some of the default/premade layouts show up on mobile.

If you need more help I'll be willing to help out.

dw default layouts are always a bad bet, and idk what's up with your module setting, but it's just really distracting. i'd agree with suggesting or looking for someone who can help you do a custom graphic layout for it. a lot of new games are heading that way and while no one expects perfection, dark default layouts are generally a bad idea.

I'd love some help and suggestions, because in all honesty, the extent of my artistic eye can be summed up as "I like blue." As you see! My coder asked for a layout where there wouldn't be any sidebars as that would mess with the divs, and there are only two options there. I think those are my only restraints.

Do you think you would reconsider changing the AC? Check-ins will only promote squatting.

Also, I think you should also consider about adding bi-monthly smut ac. It's a very common thing that most smut games do and I think it's very sufficient way to keep a smut game active.

Having actual AC is important but I'm tired of smut ACs. Some months you just aren't feeling it, having to force it is shit. I'm glad there's a game without.

Kung-Fury or Moonbeam City Semi-Nexus 80's Explosion

I'm thinking about setting up a semi-nexus sol game set in a sci-fi 80's neon wonderland. The tone would be lighthearted, like Moonbeam City or Space Dandy. No worlds that need to be saved or wars to fight or anything like that. Just kung-fu shenanigans.

On Saturn's moon Enceladus, the city Quasar is a neon hub of alien life. Quasar thrives thanks to its infinite power source the Chronotron. Unfortunately, it opens a rift between worlds and dimensions that lets in unsuspecting people. It also bestows each newcomer with a martial art. No one knows why.

The Chronorift is open 24/7 but can only be controlled with a (insert 80s name here) device that characters will have to earn and buy. Which means jobs. Without it, going through the rift will send them somewhere random without the guarantee of their return.

I plan on there being established crime families, bounty hunters, space pirates, and under-staffed police forces who are looking for their next loose cannon cop.

Does something like this sound interesting?

conceptually? hell yeah! but I'm so tired of SoL. if you can work some kind of storyline or modplot into it - and really, "plot" does not automatically mean "wars and saving the world" and nothing else - I'd be on that shit so fast it'd make your head spin. 80's MacGuffin Device to earn in order to get home is almost enough, it's a start.

but jesus h christ I'd be all up in crime families and space pirates omg.

i was really into this game that was getting talked about. the one with the tag art "sword art online with fucking."

How about a game set in the Banner Saga universe?

I love the idea of having characters be part of an expedition and make decisions not just for themselves but for the humans and Varl, with all the consequences that entails. I even like the idea of fighting a losing battle against not just the Dredge, but also the serpent and the darkness. It would be a pretty dark game with permadeath as a must.

Characters can be AUed in or be brought in as a new class of people, similar to how the menders arrived to end the previous great war. If brought in, I was thinking they should arrive naked, without a single belonging, and depowered to become on par with baseline humans. To regain objects and powers, they would need to recall/practice their abilities and interact with godstones in some way.

It probably works best as a smaller game, which suits me better. I welcome any input.

I'm thinking a relaxed sort of game, sandbox or whatever it is you cool kids call it these days. Everyone wakes up on a large enough island with a small town to live in. All looks good. They're separated into teams named after colors, maybe they have traits, and told that everything they do is filmed and it's all broadcast to a wider audience big brother style (it's not, it's a social experiment, but shhh). every two weeks there's an overarching theme of "things to be done" and at the end of the month on team is chosen (randomly) as losers who then have to spend a few weeks acting out their penance. then it repeats. I guess the premise is more on who will do what to win within the constraints set, who will set who up, who will rebel against the system and so forth.

This is literally shower thoughts right now, I'll come back to it.

i like the arrival and team concepts idea, but the filming thing just makes me think of all the countless hunger games clones and the social experiment thing just made me wince (has anybody but failed trolls used that line since 2006?)

this has potential, it feels like it could be like legion (another relaxed game with a team theme) but there's room for improvement in things too. best of luck, anon

thanks anon, i appreciate that. i haven't actually seen or read hunger games so i didn't realise there was a parallel, so i can look into tweaking that away from it.
