[D] If you wanna be my lover

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Concerns?

Navigate:

Hey! Do not post anything outside of these threads. It will be deleted.
Go be cute and fun and fun and funny over here.

Okay! So how do you deal with characters who are withdrawn, asocial, or otherwise... subtle in that way. I think it's something a lot of rpers struggle with (myself included) and a good discussion on working with these sorts of characters to prevent thrm becoming bland is necessary!

A big thing with a less sociable character is to learn right away what will get them involved so you can make use of that. Some might start getting involved when certain topics come up or if a person they admire asks them to do something or other circumstances. Some might be more open over a network than in person.

If needed, look at the canon again and see what gets them talking and especially talking more than one word responses.

If needed, seek out the help of other players if your character needs an outside influence to help.

It will often help to tag characters who are more sociable, but in a way that they will draw your character out. For example, if your character will speak more when directly asked questions, try to tag characters who are very inquisitive and will ask your character questions.

And in situations that your character isn't saying much, give some description and thoughts and emotions so the other player has something to work with. Even if their character won't know your character's thoughts, it can help the other player out.

Action posts and logs are your friend. If it's a network heavy game, just think of it this way; even antisocial people talk on the phone. Short to-the-point posts are okay. Or locked text or video to a friend followed by an open action segment to tag.
